“If help and salvation are to come, they can only come from the children, for the children are the makers of men.”
– Maria Montessori
The Indaba Foundation believes in the vision of an inclusive, equitable, sustainable and peaceful society where every child is able to reach their full developmental potential. Our goal is to train 30,000 Early Childhood community-based teachers, who will in turn impact 1 million children by 2032 in South Africa, who are at risk of not reaching their full potential as a direct result of poverty, lack of adequate nutrition and health, and contexts of low levels of access to quality early care and education programs.
Transformative Early Childhood Development (ECD) has the ability to shape the future of our society. By sharing data-driven results of our unique investment model, CoRE, we aim to scale our work to galvanize large-scale investment into the formative years of children.
For us to truly understand and honor the needs of the child, we will plan and develop a world-first, “University of the Child.” This dedicated campus, situated in the heart of the Cape Winelands, will focus on ECD programs, impact research, sustainable and regenerative practices, environmental economics, and be built as a completely chemical-free campus.
Early Childhood Development is the best investment we can make in our society right now.
